Today, Eldon swam in the VAST Summer Spectacular long course meet at the King County Aquatic Center. Not only is the course long (50 meters instead of 25 yards), it ran super-long! I am a huge fan of requiring positive check-in for all long-course events. Grandma C and I counted the number of swimmers that were no-shows in each event, and they could have had 20 FEWER heats (at 2 to 3+ minutes per heat) if they had been able to weed out all the no-shows ahead of time.
On the plus side, Eldon did really well, taking 3rd in the 50 Free, 11th in the 100 breast with a good drop in time, and 9th in the 200 IM with another good drop in time (pictured here, lane closest to the camera), winning his heats in both the breast and IM.
