October 23: "Evergreen" is a relative term

When I moved to the Northwest, one of the first things I learned is that evergreen trees do indeed lose their foliage, just not all at once.  Most trees are so stealthy about it that you never see the evidence on the trees themselves, just in the bed of needles underneath them.  Cedar trees, however, seem to drop their needles in big bunches, as shown.  And now you know.
